Rusty Rierson

Rusty Rierson is a native of South-central, KS. (El Dorado.) Growing up on the family farm he fell in love with agriculture and pursued the degree at Kansas State in Ag. Econ. Graduating in May 2008, Rusty is currently attending graduate school at K-State in Animal Science in Management.

Rusty got into music when he was 14 years old. He started singing in church and soon it became a passion. He learned guitar when his father, Roger, suggested that they take lessons together. In 2005, Rierson won the state wide "YF&R talent find contest" hosted by farm bureau and performed at the Kansas State fair where he is annually invited back. In 2007 Rusty won the "Colgate Country Showdown" at the state level and placed in the top 15 nationally. He competed again at state in 2008.

Rusty has played all over the state of Kansas, in Missouri, Las Vegas, Texas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, California, in Mexico and Central America. He often travels with the "Better Horses Radio Show" and has played rodeos, barrel races, and horse events all over the midwest, including at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in 2009. Rusty has opened and played with legends such as Frankie Valens, R.W. Hampton, John Berry, Doug Stone, Michael Martin Murphy, Bill Gentry, and others. His country band “Deadeye” he plays with is the best! With roots in blues and classic rock, they can play for all audiences and keep the energy flowing. Rierson always plays tribute to Johnny Cash, George Strait, and some of his other heroes, as well as his own music. Rierson said he hopes people will see his music as “a breath of fresh air.” “But that’s for them to decide,” he said.

Rusty has finished and produced 3 albums. There are now more than 12,000 copies of his albums in print. "Till the Fat Lady Sings" is a project he finished in Sept. 2008. This was a project Rusty started 7 years ago, when he was 16. There are a number of songs he wrote, and co-wrote and a few written by friends and fellow musicians/writers.
In 2009 Rusty released "Good Morning Glory," a patriotic single that also includes a song written for ledgenary bull rider Lane Frost, and a theme song for the OSU Cowboys.
